Though it seems to be swept under the carpet, the gender equality bill needs not to be taken at face value alone. Does the girl child need to have education or be married off at a young age? Does the widow need protection from overzealous in-laws when her husband dies? The bill raised more questions than answers but the reactions from various quarters was priceless.
